HISD begins search for new superintendent

July 28, 2009 4:22:52 AM PDT
The Houston school board will start interviewing superintendent candidates tomorrow. HISD is trying to replace Dr. Abe Saavedra, who is leaving at the end of August. The board plans to interview six to eight candidates Wednesday and Friday at the offices of a headhunting firm.

Critics claim the board is being too secretive about the selection process. However, a headhunter hired by HISD said many job candidates do not want their names released.
