Nine drug smugglers sentenced

A federal judge in Corpus Christi has sentenced nine people to prison on drug trafficking charges. U.S. District Judge Janis Graham Jack sentenced eight members of the cocaine smuggling ring Friday, including alleged leader Noe Espinosa, 38, of Corpus Christi.

The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Friday that Espinosa received a 210-month prison sentence for conspiring to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. The smuggling ring allegedly moved shipments of cocaine from the Mexican border to Corpus Christi in hidden compartments inside vehicle.
