Danbury rallies past Holliday for 2A title

Scott Zimerle, 17-0 as a starter, pitched two shutout innings in relief and Danbury rallied from a 5-1 deficit to beat Holliday 6-5 for the Class 2A state championship. [SPORTS BLOG: Read the latest from the Eyewitness Sports team]

Holliday (30-4) built the lead behind Chris Sadbery's first inning home run and Tyler Cole's inside-the-park homer in the second.

Danbury (32-5) tied it in the fifth on Matt Dees' single to center and took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Garrett Zimmerle.

Scott Zimmerle pitched the final two innings for Danbury.
