Three dead in crash on Galveston seawall

A Houston man and two of his children are dead after their car was rear-ended by a sport-utility vehicle on Galveston's seawall. [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. Sunday after the SUV drove onto the sidewalk atop the seawall near 12th Street. Galveston police Lt. Byron Franklin says the family's car was parked facing east when it was struck from behind. Franklin says it's not yet clear how fast the SUV was moving.

The children's mother and a third child were not injured seriously. The SUV driver was airlifted to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. There's no word yet on his condition.

No identities have been released.
