About 5:45am on March 30, neighbors noticed smoke coming from Brett Elliot's townhome on Pagewood near South Gessner. Once the fire was extinguished, detectives discovered the 54-year-old died from blunt injuries to his body, not the fire.

With no forced entry, investigators say it's possible Elliot knew his attacker. As for a motive, we're told it's still unclear. But items were stolen from Elliot's townhome. Elliot's sister says his murder is baffling.

Lisa Elliott said, "He is the kind of guy, that at his memorial service, numerous people walked up to me and described Brett as their best friend."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
