New schools planned for Houston

YES says it wants to add eight more schools, to bring the total number of campuses in Houston to 13. They plan to add two of the new schools this year. YES says that'll allow them to serve about 10,000 students.

"When we grow to serve 10,000 students we will serve roughly 10 percent of the low income secondary population of Houston ISD," explained Chris Barbic YES Founder and Head of Schools. "By doing this at this scale through competition and collaboration we firmly also believe that we will drive improvements in education throughout our city."

All seven locations will accept student and teacher applications for the 2009-2010 school year.
