Deputies accused of assaulting man

TYLER, TX Prosecutors said Friday the men were acting as Houston County law enforcement officials when they entered the home of one of the deputies and assaulted a man before driving him to Davy Crockett National Forest.

The indictment alleges that 63-year-old Charles James Clark shot the victim with a Taser gun during the drive. The other deputy, 50-year-old Henry Doyce Gresham Jr., is accused of pointing a gun at the victim and striking him with the weapon.

Both deputies are facing charges of conspiracy, violation of civil rights and assault on federal land with a firearm.
