Broome County Judge Joseph Cawley Jr. announced the verdict Thursday after the non-jury trial of George Ford. The 44-year-old construction worker from Piscataway, N.J., was charged with second-degree murder for killing Shyanne Somers of South Otselic in 2007.

Ford says the girl's death was an accident.

Prosecutors says Ford was high on cocaine when he ran over Shyanne on an upstate New York road. Their case was built on data from a GPS system his wife secretly installed in his pickup because she suspected he was having an affair.
