Saint Paul's Missionary Baptist Church and a Buddhist church staged a food giveaway at Saint Paul's in southeast Houston. Volunteers loaded food boxes, sodas and fruit into vehicles for delivery to local families. Some Sunnyside residents showed up in person to get food and thank the churches and the volunteers.

"It's a nice thing for those who need it, because we all seem to need it right now," said Ruth Lewis. "Times are kind of hard."

"I'm excited because it's a giveaway," said Pastor James Nash of Saint Paul's Missionary Baptist Church. "You're helping the community. It's community awareness -- let people know there's people in the community really care about them."

Pastor Nash told us they plan to do a food giveaway each week.
