The charity and Mattress Firm handed out beds to 50 families at one location in southeast Houston. Volunteers also headed to other stores to give away beds. Mattress Firm and one of its suppliers from Corsicana donated four truckloads of twin mattress sets so Houston Children's Charity could help Ike victims.

"Four kids have been in one bedroom," said Rhonda Martinez, who received new beds. "So they're all in one room with no beds."

Kim Roberts of the Houston Children's Charity said, "The other beds are at five other Mattress Firm locations as well we have a partnership with Houston Furniture Bank that also helps distributes beds as well and we have a warehouse."

Houston Children's Charity hopes to distribute 100 beds per month through its "A Better Night's Sleep" program.
