Car wreck knocks out power to homes

About 50 homes lost power as a result of an overnight wreck just south of Houston. [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

A man was driving westbound on Yellowstone near Foster when he veered off the road and slammed into an electrical pole. He also hit a fire hydrant before finally crashing into the side of a house.

When authorities got to the driver, he was unconscious. He was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Only a few people remained without power hours after the accident.
