Chemical spill shuts down Hwy. 290

November 21, 2008 4:59:01 PM PST
A chemical spill sparked a traffic nightmare on Highway 290 Friday afternoon. A fire truck driving behind an 18-wheeler noticed the leak and told the truck driver to pull over. Police blocked off all lanes while HazMat crews cleaned up the substance. A few cars managed to pass through on the shoulder, but most of the traffic was diverted on to the service road near Eldridge.

There were no reports of injuries.
