Local preachers accused of stealing from govt.

Two Houston preachers and two other church workers are behind bars, accused of ripping off the government. [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

Eric and Sheila Washington, both pastors of Fishers of Men Worship Center and two other people are accused of stealing money meant for students and hurricane evacuees. The indictment claims they would take money that was supposed to be used for student loans. They are also accused of filing fake claims with FEMA, saying they sheltered Katrina evacuees. The charges are result of two years of undercover investigations.

The FEMA fraud charges in the church case now makes 89 people fraud charges relating to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
