Plane makes emergency landing at IAH

HOUSTON The flight, which was reportedly carrying about 80 people, left Houston Intercontinental Airport around 10:30am. According to Houston Airport Systems spokesperson Marlene McClinton, the tire blew during takeoff, and a decision was made to turn the plane back to Houston. It landed safely at about noon.

Passengers on Northwest Airlines flight 3462 to Minneapolis were rebooked.

Some rubber was left behind on the runway after the takeoff. Emergency crews checked out the aircraft after its return. No injuries have been reported.
