Texans part ways with Spencer

July 22, 2008 9:30:55 PM PDT
The Texans on Tuesday released the player they hoped would be their starting left tackle. Charles Spencer, all 6'4", at 337 pounds, was Gary Kubiak's third round pick in 2006, and he impressed enough as a rookie that he was named the starter. Kubiak eveb said he thought he'd remain the starter for 10 years.

Then came the second game of the season in Indianapolis. He suffered a devastating broken leg, which never healed enough for him to return.
