Rubber glove bandit targets convenience stores

HOUSTON On March 31, 2008, a black male wearing a dish towel on his head as a mask and yellow rubber kitchen gloves, robbed the Texaco store at 17355 FM 529 at approximately 10:30 pm, using a long-barreled shotgun with a camouflage design on the stock. During this robbery the suspect struck the clerk in the face with the shotgun, breaking his nose.

On April 8, 2008, the same suspect struck again, this time at the Kwik Stop Store at 6400 Barker Cypress. This time he wore a blue t-shirt over his head and wore white gloves. He also used the same long-barreled shotgun during the robbery. The clerk in this incident was unharmed, and said the suspect spoke with a high-pitched voice.

Investigators believe the suspect may live in an adjacent neighborhood off Barker Cypress and FM 529, since the two robbery locations are approximately 1.6 miles apart.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called in to the Crime Stoppers 713-222-8477 (TIPS) hotline that leads to the identification, arrest and charging of any suspect in these cases. All callers remain anonymous.
