Two injured in wrong-way accident

Two people were injured following a wrong-way accident on the HOV lane in near downtown.It happened this morning in the HOV lane on the North Freeway near Quitman north of downtown Houston. A METRO transit authority flatbed truck was traveling northbound in the HOV lane when another vehicle entered the HOV lane travelling in the opposite direction. That driver hit the flatbed truck head-on.

Police say the car went airborne, flipped a couple of times and landed upside down.

Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to get the driver of the car out. Two people were injured. The injuries do not appear to be critical. Both drivers were transported to the hospital.

Authorities don't know if alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The accident hasn't caused any major problems on the freeway. Officials say the accident should be cleared by 6am.
