Comets re-sign Tina Thompson

HOUSTON The team announced Monday that they've re-signed the 11-year WNBA veteran. Thompson has been a mainstay of the franchise since becoming the first player selected in the inaugural WNBA draft back in 1997.

"Tina is definitely the leader of this team and re-signing is an indication of her commitment to the Comets," said Comets Coach and General Manager Karleen Thompson. "A veteran of her caliber who possesses a great work ethic, both in practices and games, is the best example you can offer younger players."

Thomas was part of the Comets amazing string of four consecutive WNBA titles. She's a member of the WNBA All-Decade team and has been repeatedly selected to the WNBA All-Star team, only missing the 2005 game for the birth of her son.

Thompson is in the league's top five all-time leaders for points (4,882), rebounds (2,003), three-point shots made (439) and minutes (10,360).
