Rumors force officials to lock down HS

LA PORTE, TX School district officials confirm that La Porte High School received those allegations, and in keeping with the security protocol, Principal Joanne Kolius called for an immediate lockdown. School security officers and the La Porte Police Department were notified.

The building was secured. Contraband dogs were called in to search the parking lot and campus. No weapons were found.

Students were released on the originally planned early release schedule. A final security sweep of the campus was completed after the students were sent home. The principal also sent a letter of explanation to parents.

The district will be on Spring Break the week of March 17-21.
