Inmate attempts suicide near his cell

RICHMOND, TX Around 12:40pm Sunday, emergency crews and Life Flight were called to the sheriff's office in Richmond. According to authorities, Baldomero Chavez Garcia, 41, tied one end of a sheet around his neck and the other end to a railing just outside of his cell block. He then jumped from the second floor, falling approximately 20 feet.

Garcia was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Herman Hospital, Downtown, and remains in critical condition.

Garcia was incarcerated by Stafford Police Department for Aggravated Assault. The circumstances surrounding Garcia's attempted suicide are under investigation.
