Students say goodbye to beloved teacher

KATY, TX A memorial service was held today in Katy for Mel Aimar. The 56 year old taught biology at Cinco Ranch High School. Aimar underwent eye surgery, then developed respiratory problems and died. Aimar's students say he helped inspire them to reach lofty goals.

"He was the kind of teacher that you could joke around with but at the end of the day he was there to support you, to make you feel like you really could do whatever you wanted for the rest of your life," said Cinco Ranch High School student Michael Simmons.

Mel Aimar moved to Houston in 1989 and had taught at Cinco Ranch High School since 1999.
