Police: Violent night ends with woman shooting her boyfriend

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating after a woman allegedly opened fire, shooting and killing her boyfriend.

Houston police said the early-morning shooting happened on Stevens Street near Quitman, not far from the Eastex Freeway.

Police said when patrol officers arrived at the address, the victim was lying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Juan Capetillo was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died.

Houston police say the girlfriend said that her boyfriend struck her and she grabbed a gun and shot him. The girlfriend was detained at the scene but no charges have been filed. The case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
