An elementary school student is recovering after a freak gust of wind sent him flying dozens of feet in the air.
Officials say the dust devil struck three times at a school in northwest China.
The first whirlwind, measuring 30 to 40 meters high, formed among the students.
Teachers started to evacuate the students when the second larger and faster whirlwind hit. Then, a third one came around, lifting a young boy high up in the air before dropping him.
Luckily the little boy only suffered minor injuries to his head and is being treated in hospital.
