West Texas dealership launches buy car, get gun promotion

ANDREWS, TX (KTRK) -- A West Texas car dealer says his sales are shooting up after he launched a buy a car, get a gun promotion.

The Benny Boyd dealership in Andrews is offering customers their choice of an AR-15, a deer rifle, or a handgun. Customers do have to pass a background check. The dealership manager says current events influenced his decision.

Strate Colbath, Benny Boyd general manager, said, "Just a lot of things going on right now around West Texas and a lot of things going on around the U.S. We thought this promotion would pretty much set us apart and celebrate our 2nd Amendment right."

Customers who don't want a gun will receive a $500 rebate.
