Mostly dry Sunday with rain chances ramping up midweek

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Another chilly night is ahead in SE Texas. Lows should drop into the 40s and low 50s across the area into Sunday morning. We should start off with a good bit of cloud cover in the morning but those clouds should break up in the afternoon. Under mostly sunny skies, our afternoon highs should top out in the mid to upper 60s.

Dry air stays overhead Monday but a warm front should lift north bring warm and moist air back to the area by Wednesday.

Will it stay cool through the weekend?

Yes, it will! Weather for Sunday and Monday will be very similar with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s. We could see a couple of showers Sunday but most of us will stay dry.

When could we get more widespread rain?

Moisture starts to move back in next week bringing back chances for rain, with the best chance of rain arriving midweek. Those showers could continue on and off through the end of the week and possibly into the following weekend. At this time we are anticipating about 1-2 inches for most with higher amounts near the coast.

When could we get our first freeze in Houston?

We aren't seeing any signs of freezing weather over the next 10 days, and long range projections now show only a low chance of a freeze for the first half of December. On average, Houston's first freeze occurs during the second week of December.
