HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Calm and drier conditions have settled in for the weekend, but we still can't rule out a spot shower late Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
Temperatures will fall into the mid-upper 60s by Sunday morning. Areas of fog could develop east of I-45 along the coast and closer to Beaumont, and with the humidity rising at night we can't rule out a stray shower Sunday morning. Conditions will clear once again though by Sunday afternoon and temperatures will be back in the low-mid 80s under a mostly sunny sky.
It looks pretty good right now! The dry northerly wind we have through the weekend will eventually connect with drier air on Sunday night, making for a comfortable day for our Veterans. We expect a lot of sunshine to warm lows from around 60 at sunrise to the low 80s with low humidity during the afternoon.
Our next cool front is penciled in for Wednesday night, but this is looking more and more like another Pacific front that drops the humidity for a day or two and doesn't deliver much in the way of cooler air. We are now expecting one morning in the upper 50s and one afternoon in the 70s after the front arrives.
Rafael is a Tropical Storm over the Gulf of Mexico as it tracks westward over the open water. No impacts are expected here in SE Texas except for elevated surf and increased rip currents. Head to our daily Tropical Update page for a complete look at what we're covering in the tropics.
