HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- What an absolutely Friday! After a cool start to the morning, we'll see full sunshine and high temperatures warming to a comfortable 77 degrees.
Saturday's weather will be pleasant with a low in the 50s and a high in the 70s. The Gulf breeze will blow steadily through the weekend, bringing back muggy air by Sunday morning when lows only dip into the upper 60s. Widespread clouds will return along with the moisture, bringing a 30% chance for a passing shower. If the clouds break apart Sunday afternoon, temperatures will climb back into the low 80s.
It now looks like we will cool down in two steps next week. First, a stormy Pacific cold front will arrive on Monday, and we will have to monitor it for the possibility of severe weather. This will bring mild temperature and lower humidity for Tuesday. Then a stronger cold front from Canada will blow in Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, and this cold air will have some staying power. At this time, we expect our coldest afternoon to be on Thursday with highs only in the upper 50s, and we expect our coldest morning to be on Friday with lows ranging from the upper 30s to low 40s.
The National Hurricane Center is now issuing forecasts for Tropical Storm Sara over the Caribbean. While we don't expect this to get anywhere Texas, it will threaten parts of Nicaragua and Honduras with life threatening flash floods and mudslides. Eventually it should get into the Gulf of Mexico and bring heavy rain showers to Florida next week. Head to our daily Tropical Update page for a complete look at what we're tracking in the tropics.
