HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Harris County homeowners are now able to report property damage caused by severe weather through the Harris County Appraisal District's app.
The app can be used to report flood, tornado, fire or roof damage to homes and garages.
Homeowners can also electronically submit photos of their driver's license to verify their identity.
"The appraisal district can use this information to identify the most damaged neighborhoods and properties to help the homeowner next year when the property is reappraised January 1 by possibly reducing the value because of existing damage or ongoing repair work," HCAD chief appraiser Roland Altinger explained.
The free app can be found by searching "Harris County Appraisal District" in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
