COTTONWOOD, AZ (KTRK) -- A parking lot brawl at a Walmart Saturday night left one person dead, two wounded, and seven in police custody.
According to a press release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, someone called Cottonwood police around midnight and reported that a female Walmart employee had been assaulted inside the store.
When police got to the scene, the suspects were waiting in the parking lot and jumped them. One of the suspects was shot and killed in the brawl, and another took a bullet to the abdomen. Seven other suspects were arrested.
Eight police officers were assaulted and one was shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspects have not yet been identified, but a DPS spokesman told The Arizona Republic that all of the suspects are from the same family.
