Family surprised with Home Fund from First Horizon Bank and ABC's 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'

In an effort to give back to families across the country, First Horizon Bank and ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" have partnered up to surprise four families with Home Funds to help cover new expenses that may arise and build a foundation for lasting financial stability.

One of those families is the Broadheads from Orlando, Florida.

Since losing her husband during the Covid-19 pandemic, Elisa Broadhead has been a single mom to her four children.

When asked about her experience working with ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," Elisa described it as, "life-changing."

"I call it therapy," she added. "I was forced to kind of face and deal with my trauma, but in doing so, it allowed me to basically have a fresh start at life. Where I was having highs and lows, now I feel like I'm just kind of steady and living life again and enjoying things and this is home and I can breathe again."

Some of Elisa's favorite details of her new home include the framed TV that displays a family photo when not in use, as well as the black kitchen cabinets that feature gold-toned hardware. Another highlight is her new sewing room, which Elisa has already put to use to sew a custom dress for her daughter.

In addition to the home makeover, First Horizon Bank also surprised Elisa and her family with a Home Fund to address future home expenses that may arise.

"I think I was too shocked," Elisa said of when she first learned about the Home Fund, "because it was already so much. It was like, every corner revealed of the house was just something amazing, and then to have that, it was overwhelming, and I don't even know that I knew what to say because I was so shocked in that moment and grateful for just everything that had been done."
