USAA, Disney offering workshop to help companies hire more veterans

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Want to employ more veterans but not sure how? The Walt Disney Company is hosting a one-day workshop to help companies, government agencies and support organizations create and build an effective veteran and military spouse hiring program.

The Texas Veteran Hiring Best Practices Summit is being held between 8:30am to 5:30pm August 19 at the USAA Home Office in San Antonio.

The event will explain to employers the many challenges military families face in the workforce and will focus on how to remedy those problems. Employers will learn best practices from experts and elite veteran support organizations and take customized courses to help expand their veteran programs.

The day will conclude with a networking reception from 5:30-7:30pm at the Omni Hotel off I-10 and Colonnade.

Anyone interested in the participating in the workshop is asked to RSVP by Thursday on the USAA website.

The workshop is hosted by the USAA and powered by the Disney Veterans Institute and Hiring our Heroes.

The USAA Home Office in San Antonio is located at 9800 Fredericksburg Road.
