Leaders from both the city of Houston and Harris County discussed plans Wednesday for changes at the third largest jail in the U.S.
The reform is thanks to a $2 million grant from The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Safety and Justice Challenge. The Challenge is a national initiative supported by the Foundation to reduce over-incarceration by changing the way America thinks about and uses jails.
Harris County is one of 20 jurisdictions chosen by the foundation to make changes with criminal justice.
