HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Texans are changing the playing surface at NRG to turf for the rest of the 2015 season, the team announced today.
Texans GM Rick Smith said while the grass field has tested well in the past, that's not been the case this year so far.
"We weren't confident that the field would improve, and that's the reason we are making the change," said Smith.
Smith says the decision to switch to turf came after Week 1 opener against Kansas City.
