The National Weather Service has honored Travis Herzog as its Broadcaster of the Year.

LOS ANGELES (KTRK) -- The National Weather Association has recognized ABC13's own Travis Herzog with their prestigious Broadcaster of the Year award.

NWA bestowed the honor in recognition of Herzog's "exemplary service by helping to save lives and prevent significant property loss from flash flooding through clear communication, ongoing education efforts and working collaboratively with the weather enterprise as a whole."

Recipients must be nominated by another member of the National Weather Association. Lance Wood, the National Weather Service's science operations officer for the Houston/Galveston region, nominated Herzog this year.

Herzog will accept the award this afternoon at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
