HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Deputies say what started as a routine traffic stop in southwest Houston ended in a substantial drug bust.

A Precinct 7 Deputy Constable around 12:30pm Tuesday pulled over a 2005 red Ford Focus in the 2200 Block of South Loop West for speeding. But when the deputy approached the vehicle, he smelled marijuana.

The driver, who's been identified as 47-year-old Kirk Bowers, allegedly admitted to having pot in the car. But during a search of the vehicle, deputies say they also found 2 pounds 9 ounces of pot, 30 grams of cocaine, 47 crack rocks, 99 ecstasy pills, 45 Xanax pills, and 24 hydrocodone pills.
