HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Today marks the beginning of OTC, The Offshore Technology Conference. The even it Houston's largest annual convention, and more than 100,000 people are expected to attend.
The four-day conference takes place at NRG Park, and that means heavy traffic congestion around the event. If you are planning to go, keep in mind parking fills up fast.
Here's a tip: If you arrive after mid-morning, consider exiting on South Main and parking in the yellow, green or teal lots. There's a free shuttle that will take you to the entrance.
You can also use the free park-and-ride bus that runs every thirty minutes from several locations around the city, including Tully Stadium, Greenspoint Mall, and Trader's Village. Monday through Wednesday, inbound buses run every thirty minutes from 7:00am until 11:00am. Outbound shuttles run every thirty minutes, from 12:30pm until 6:30p.
On Thursday, the inbound schedule remains the same, but outbound buses run from 12:30pm until 4:30pm.
Even if you are not going to OTC, keep in mind traffic will be heavy around NRG Park. Use alternates like Buffalo Speedway or Almeda.
