Toddler drowns in apartment complex pool in west Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- A toddler has died after he was found Sunday afternoon face down in a west Harris County pool.

Investigators arrived to the Woodbridge Crossing Apartments, located at 14501 Empanada, and airlifted baby Aiden to Memorial Hermann.

"We thought it was a doll in the pool, but it was a baby," a friend of the family said. "Nobody was in sight."

Amani Sereni and his brother jumped the fence to the pool area and pulled the boy out. Sereni's brother performed CPR on the toddler.

"We tried everything we could," Sereni added.

Family members tell Eyewitness News that Aiden is a hyperactive toddler.

"The main thing is, what if that door was locked?" Letyson Henderson asked. "Would this have happened?"

Residents say the gate to the pool is never locked.

Investigators are unsure how the toddler got inside the pool or how long he was in the water.

No other details have been released.
