Last minute hustle and bustle before Thanksgiving, Chauncy Glover reports.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It's the night before Thanksgiving and naturally stores are packed as people are making the final dash to get items.

"Tonight I missed a few things, so I had to come in," a shopper said.

According to the American Farm and Bureau Federation, Thanksgiving dinner will be cheaper this year for a family of 10. The cost is estimated at just $49.87, a 24-cent decrease from last year's average.

Cheney Ledet says she uses last minute shopping as bonding time.

"My son is home from college," Ledet said.

Perhaps the busiest place Wednesday night was the pizza restaurant. Thanksgiving Eve is one of the top five busiest days for pizza sales.

"If you're going to wake up the next day and cook that much food, you probably don't want to deal with it the night before," said Elliott Carter, who works at Papa John's.

Through the hustle of getting those last minute purchases, most shoppers had one thing in common.

"I'm thankful for family."
