HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Texas Southern University will be closed for the rest of the day due to a power outage.
According to university officials, the outage happened at 3:30 this morning.
Centerpoint is on the campus trying to figure out the cause.
A university spokesperson says most of the buildings are running on a back-up generator and the computer systems are down, so the campus was closed as a precaution.
Only essential personnel are on campus. No classes were scheduled since winter commencement was held over the weekend and exams were last week.
The University of Houston basketball team has been playing home games at TSU while UH's arena is being renovated.
A UH game was scheduled for tonight at TSU. It has been moved to Rice University.
KTSU, the university's radio station, says the outage has also affected its operations.
