Exclusive Video: Guard fires tear gas round at inmates, at close range.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It's an eyebrow-raising video slipped to ABC-13 investigative reporter Ted Oberg by a whistleblower.

We have just a glimpse of it here for you. It's a prison corrections supervisor at Lychner State Jail using a tear gas rifle to shoot an inmate in the chest a close range inside a jail dorm.

State jail isn't supposed to be easy, but something about this video made us investigate if this guard went too far. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice admits that "several mistakes" were made but also said that pulling the trigger wasn't one of them.
