LAKE JACKSON, TX (KTRK) -- Taylor Toner, 8, has a head start on a career as a reporter.
She has been reporting from her front yard in Angleton on the recent flooding.
"And I'm like, all the way, my knees are touching the water," Taylor said in the video, "And the entire front yard where my porch is is underwater."
In the video, Taylor gives a shout-out to ABC13 Eyewitness News Reporter Kaitlin McCulley.
"This is Taylor Toner reporting for Kaitlin McCulley," Taylor said, "I really like her."
Taylor said she has her career picked out.
"Be a news reporter like you," Taylor said to McCulley.
Her reasons for loving the job are pretty simple.
"You get to go everywhere you want and you get to meet everybody, and when there's floods you get to play in the water sometimes," Taylor said.
Her mom, Chrissie Kelley, said her daughter's news reports have helped her be less afraid of severe weather.
"I think it helps her a lot because this time with all the flooding she hasn't been as nervous as the ones before," Kelley said.
Taylor is taking control of her fears and reporting the facts. Her secret to success is straightforward.
"Make sure I know what I'm talking about," Taylor said.
That's a pretty good start.
