Suspect dead after League City SWAT standoff

LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- A suspect in a SWAT standoff in League City apparently took his own life Wednesday morning.

The standoff started at 8am when the 33-year-old suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside a home in the 3200 block of White Sail. Police say he was along inside when they heard multiple rounds of gunfire. Nearby residents were told to shelter-in-place.

Around 11am, a robot that was sent into the home was able to determine the suspect was dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At this point, it's not clear by the suspect had barricaded himself inside the home. His identity is being withheld at this time.
