The closure will be between Polk and Clay streets through Oct. 31.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A long-term closure east of downtown begins this week.
TxDOT officials said starting on Monday, there will be a 12-week closure of St. Emanuel Street between Clay and Polk streets.
ABC13 captured video of crews doing work on the planned closure on Monday morning.

TxDOT said the closure will last until Oct. 31.
Officials said storm sewer boxes will be installed beneath the street as part of the I-45 expansion project, which aims to widen the freeway from downtown to Beltway 8.
