14-year-old dead, 3 others hurt after shooting in Bryan, police say
Officers said the shooting happened between two groups of individuals.
BRYAN, Texas (KTRK) -- A 14-year-old boy is dead, and three others were hurt after a shooting in Bryan, police said.
According to the Bryan Police Department, D’antwon Miles was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Hospital on Sunday.
Detectives said the shooting happened in the 1200 block of 17th Street on Saturday night when two groups of individuals began firing at each other.
In addition to Miles, a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were shot and have since been released from the hospital, according to BPD. They added that a 42-year-old woman is still in the hospital, but is stabilized.
During the incident, three vehicles were struck by bullets, BPD said.
Detectives said they are following up on leads to determine a motive for the shooting.
"The Bryan Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of D’Antwon Miles during this incredibly difficult time," Chief Dean Swartzlander said in a statement.
