HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Thieves tried to smash their way into an Ace Cash Express but left empty handed.
Around 12:30am this morning, witnesses heard the thieves crash a car into the building off Cullen and Griggs in southeast Houston and called police.
When officers arrived at the store, they found a large hole in the side of the building. Police say they don't believe the thieves got inside.
Officers found the car used to smash into the building abandoned behind a house nearby. They say the vehicle had been stolen out of Corsicana, Texas.
