The Coogs may have this weekend off, but the other universities in Texas have a Saturday full of football ahead.
NUMBER FOUR, NO MORE: Looking to keep their playoff hopes alive, No. 4 Texas A&M (7-2) fell short 35-28 to the Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-5). The SEC showdown came just a week after Texas A&M was ranked fourth behind Alabama, Clemson and Michigan in the season's first College Football Playoff rankings. The Aggies were surprisingly a spot ahead of unbeaten Washington.
THRILLER IN LUBBOCK: Texas Longhorns (5-4) held on to defeat Texas Tech (4-5) in Lubbock, 45-37. Running back D'Onta Foreman finished the game with 341 yards, the third-most in school history.
PANTHERS WIN SWAC SHOWDOWN: Prairie View A&M (6-3) defeated Alcorn State 31-27, adding another Southwestern Athletic Conference victory for the Panthers.
BAYLOR SUFFERS UPSET: Kyle Hicks ran for a career-high 192 yards with five touchdowns and TCU beat 13th-ranked Baylor, 62-22. The loss is the Bears largest defeat as a ranked team to an unranked opponent in school history.
TIGERS FALL IN CONFERENCE PLAY: Texas Southern (3-6) was unable to mount a comeback against Southern (6-2), falling 26-10. The Tigers are now 3-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
