Meet Gonzo - the artist behind the Chevron Houston Marathon poster
HOUSTON, Texas -- You've seen his murals around town, but this year's runners will get a Gonzo keepsake to take with them to commemorate the race.
"Our race weekend poster is the most important keepsake aside from say a medal or your race bib. It is something that captures the excitement of the weekend, that embodies the spirit and energy of Houston. And we wanted to seek out an artist that does the same, that has that same spirit and energy. And who more perfect than Gonzo?" said Kate Klein, director of marketing and sponsorship for the Houston Marathon Committee.
"I've been given opportunities to represent my city in different formats at different platforms, and I think for me it's beyond an honor to have my artwork on this poster because I, I do understand, realize that this isn't really just for Houston. This is for people around the world. It's just a win-win," Gonzo said.
