SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KTRK) -- The Cypress Creek High School girls' basketball team fell short of a championship Thursday night, but they still have plenty reason to be proud.

Cy Creek faced DeSoto High School, which is ranked number two in the state, in the Class 6A State Championship held at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Cy Creek held the number one spot in the state and an undefeated record of 32-0 going into Thursday's game.

They lost to DeSoto 53-37.

Rori Harmon, a senior guard, and Kyndall Hunter led the team and also make the best backcourt duo in the nation.

They have both been named to the elite McDonald's All-American team and will further their talents at the University of Texas next year.

This is the third time in four years the Cy Creek Cougars have made it to the state tournament in San Antonio. After losing the state championship last year, hopes were high they could win it all this time.

Still, the team leaves behind a strong legacy.

The Cy Creek squad was an incredible 73-2 over the past two seasons.
