Segment 1 - Gordon Quan discusses "Game City Showcase," an event designed to give Houston business owners in the city's diverse neighborhoods a slice of the Super Bowl economic pie. This event encourages people to use METRO light rail to visit venue in the Museum District, East Downtown, Theater and Midtown Districts. ABC13 is a media partner of the event.
Segment 2 - Cylenthia Hoyrd and Abraham Garcia-Santos discuss "Café College Houston." The program is a one-stop shop for high school students looking for guidance on choosing the best school for their college education. "Café College Houston" provides information, resources and experts to help students find the right higher education institution. Hoyrd is with the Carnegie Neighborhood Library and Center for Learning which oversees "Café College" and Garcia-Santos went through the program and is about to enter a university to study engineering.
Segment 3 - Ben Mendez, founder of the National Hispanic Professional Organization (NHPO) explains the mission of the organization which helps members find career opportunities, develop leadership skills and assists with small business development. Mendez began NHPO in Houston in 2004.
Segment 4 - A talk with Jose Antonio Diaz, band director at MacArthur High School. Diaz has been nominated for the Grammy Foundation's Music Educator of the Year. Diaz has led bands at MacArthur High School for 32 years and has seen many of his students develop a deep appreciation for music and others have gone on to successful careers in the music industry.
