Big bucks raised at Rodeo Jr. steer auction
Two Texas teens raised more than half a million dollars at the Rodeo's junior market steer auction

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two Texas teenagers raised more than half a million dollars at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's Junior Market Steer Auction.

Caitlen Hope Doskocil, 17, of Buckholts was named grand champion with her steer Peaches. Peaches sold for a sweet $300,000. This is the high school senior's ninth year showing at the rodeo.

"Don't give up if you're losing at first because I never did well my first few years. And it gets better once you get older and get more experience. Your steers get better. They act better. You know how to show them better," said Doskocil.

The reserve grand champion was 13-year-old Caeley Cody of Weatherford. Her steer, Red Bull, brought in $280,000.

The girls take home a portion of the sale and the rest goes into the Rodeo scholarship fund.
